Henry W. Tidwell Memorial Scholarship Foundation Criteria
Purpose: The Henry W. Tidwell Memorial Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to college-bound high school seniors based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and an expressed interest in furthering their education.
Criteria: The students eligible for assistance must be graduating high school seniors who reside in South Carolina and intend to continue their education at a two or four-year college or university. Students needing assistance to attend a technical college for certification can also apply. Consideration will be given to academic achievement, financial need, and the student’s community service record. Students should submit a scholarship application on the form provided by the Henry W. Tidwell Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
Guidelines: Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in equal payments in
August and January. Students must continue to attend classes and maintain no lower than a 3.0
grade-point average (or equivalent). Scholarships for technical college certifications will be awarded after the recipient has submitted admission paperwork along with the scholarship application. Any student that does not maintain their GPA or drops out of school must repay their payment back to the foundation.
Amount: Each Henry W. Tidwell, Sr. Memorial Scholarship awarded will be a minimum of $1,000
annually to be paid in two equal installments. Each Henry W. Tidwell, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
awarded will be a minimum of $500 to be paid in one payment.

Renewal process: This scholarship is not renewable. Only high school seniors intending to enroll in a two or four-year college or university are eligible to apply for the Henry W. Tidwell, Sr. Memorial Scholarship. Any student that wants to attend a technical trade school for certification can apply for the Henry W. Tidwell, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Previous scholarship recipients cannot re-apply.
